Calvin Dermont Wells, aged 67, passed away on May 28, 2024 at the Sleepy Eye Medical Center.

Visitation will be on Friday, May 31, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield Chapel. Private family services will be held. The clergy will be Deacon Barry Reindl. Interment will be at the St. Raphael Catholic Cemetery in Springfield, MN.

Calvin was born on March 1st, 1957 to Dermont and Bonnie (Bielen) Wells, in Springfield, MN. Calvin is a graduate of Springfield High School, class of 1975. Calvin married his high school sweetheart Susan (Tauer) Wells on June 17, 1978. From this marriage they were blessed with three children, Nathan (Alicia) Wells of Springfield, MN, Aaron (Danielle) Wells of Byron, MN and Kristin (Steven) Slaba of Brandon, SD.

Throughout the years, Calvin was an avid sports dad, both indoors and outdoors. He loved watching his sons wrestle and could be heard loudest from the stands. He spent many years fishing and deer hunting and has made many friends and memories along the way including countless in the Kandiyohi County area. If you were looking for Calvin, you most likely could find him in his boat or catfishing at Minnecon park on the Minnesota River. He trapped and sold furs for many years and was always so proud to spend his fur trapping money on Christmas presents for the kids. He has taken several fishing trips with his sons, his dad, and his brother throughout the years. Calvin competed in several billiard leagues and always had his Elvis Presley pool que ready to go. Elvis Presley said it perfectly with Calvin’s favorite song, “My Way”, Calvin lived his life his way, with strong beliefs, opinions, and was a fierce Republican his entire life.

Calvin was a hardworking, dedicated man, who worked several jobs throughout his life but most importantly took pride working for his dad at Wells Tiling. He met great friends that have remained lifelong working at M&K Bridge Construction, V&K Inspections and most recently the Walnut Grove American Legion as a bartender.

Calvin is survived by his children – Nathan (Alicia) Wells, Springfield, MN, Aaron (Danielle) Wells, Byron, MN and Kristin (Steven) Slaba, Brandon, SD; special friend, Renae Scholten; grandchildren – Jaden (Logan) Winge, Colin (Isabel) Wells, Landon Robertson, Kaytlynn Wells, Makya Wells, Calen Slaba, Shaelyn Wells, Presley Wells, Nevaeh Wells; great grandchildren – Emory Winge, Joelle Winge, Leia Wells, Jordy Wells; his mother, Bonnie Wells; and siblings – Shari (Ken) Koll, Jeff (Kim) Wells, Rachelle (Todd) Myers. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Katrina Anne Wells and his dad, Dermont Wells
