Burton Weidemann
The funeral service for Burton Weidemann, 96, of Willmar, formerly of Belview, will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 27, 2019, at Grace Lutheran Church in Belview. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow the service at the Grace Lutheran Cemetery in Belveiw.
Burton Eugene Weidemann was born on May 26, 1923, in Delhi to Isaac and Elsie (Abraham) Weidemann. He grew up in rural Belview and graduated from Belview High School. On October 1, 1944, he was united in marriage to Orleen Anderson. The couple farmed and raised their family in rural Belview. In 1983, they moved to Lake Koronis near Paynesville. In 1999, they moved to Willmar. For the last three years, they have lived at the Bethesda Care Center in Willmar.
Burton and Orleen loved to dance. They enjoyed dancing at local venues and traveled as far north as Grand Forks and south to Iowa to various ballrooms. They have enjoyed many wonderful friendships from this passion. They have also commemorated many special anniversaries from 40-70 at the Bird Island Ballroom. On October 1, 2019, they celebrated 75 years of marriage. In addition to dancing, the couple enjoyed traveling. They wintered in Mission, TX, for 35 years. Burton was also very passionate about farming and family.
Burton died on Wednesday, December 18, 2019, at the Bethesda Care Center in Willmar. He is survived by his wife, Orleen, of Willmar, children Barb Cole of Belview, Dorothy (and Harold) Huseby of Victoria, Marge Sebey of Spicer, Jim (and Maureen) Weidemann of Belview, Deb (and Andy) Anderson of Belview, grandchildren Anne (and Dean) Patterson, David Cole, Ted Huseby (and Matthew Farner), Ingrid (and Ryan) Kleinjan, Marci (and Todd) Iverson, Patrick (and Laurie) Sebey, Jill (and Brian) Surine, Joel (and Ashley) Weidemann, Jon (and Christi) Weidemann, Missy Dittbenner, Andrew Anderson and Alex Anderson, 19 great grandchildren: Jacob, Meg, Harrison, Annika, Brandon (and Annie), Emma (and Joel), Preston, Julia, Katy, Jack, Ashton, Bradyn, Lauryn, Axel, Cole, Maci, Madi, Owen and Elliana, brother-in-law Roger (and Helen) Lindstrom, and nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sons-in-law Denny Cole and John Sebey, siblings Arlene (and Bob) Smith, Alvis Weidemann, Luverne (and Gert) Weidemann, LeRoy Weidemann and Shirley Lindstrom.
