Brian Lee Kaufenberg was born January 11, 1957 in Redwood Falls, MN to Vernon and Yvonne (Callewart) Kaufenberg. He attended St. Aloysius Catholic School and graduated from Olivia High School in 1975.  He continued his education at Willmar Vo-Tech College where he studied to be a social worker. He was united in marriage to Susan Hertling in 1978 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia. Their marriage was blessed with two sons. Brian enjoyed working with customers during his employment at Runnings, Schwans, and Combined Insurance. He was also employed at various seed companies and at HSI Homes. Unfortunately, due to a medical condition he retired in 2007. The family farm had a special place in his heart which he passed on to his own children as they created many memories there together. He was a strong family man that taught his children and grandchildren the importance of patience and rules. Fishing and being on the river were some of his favorite hobbies as he had a passion for being in nature. He loved his morning coffee and jigsaw puzzles; he owned thousands of puzzles that he had put together over the years. Brian enjoyed watching Minnesota sports teams. He was straight forward and gave the best advice. Many were lucky to call him a friend, but his sons were especially grateful to not only have him as a dad but also a friend. Brian will be remembered for his kindness, compassion, and willingness to always lend a helping hand.

Brian is survived by his two children: Brad (and Rubi) Kaufenberg of Redwood Falls and Jeff Kaufenberg of Redwood Falls; his three grandchildren: Jaqueline Kaufenberg, Madelynn Searcy, and Jairhet O’Hara; his four siblings: Gary (and Karen) Kaufenberg of Spicer, Denny (and Suzanne) Kaufenberg of Sartell, Greg (and Judy) Kaufenberg of Olivia, and Lori (and Scott) Berg of Dayton; his former spouse, Sue Kaufenberg; his nine nieces and nephews: Kim Kaufenberg, Kris (and Tate) Cummins, Angie (and Matt) Wilson, Mark Kaufenberg, Neil (and Jackie) Kaufenberg, Dan (and Mandy) Kaufenberg, Jon Kaufenberg, Kelsey Kaufenberg (and fiancé Dan Hilgert), and Andrew Kaufenberg (and fiancée Brittney Van Hove).  Brian was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Scott, and infant brother David.
