Brenda Erickson

Brenda Erickson, age 66, of Bird Island, MN passed away peacefully with family by her side on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Garnette Gardens in Redwood Falls, MN. Funeral services are Friday, September 22nd at 11:00 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Bird Island with Rev. Dan Croonquist officiating. Burial is in the Bird Island City Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday, September 21st from 5-8 p.m. at the church and will continue there for one hour prior to the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and will be given to charities that were important to Brenda. Arrangements are by Dirks-Blem Funeral Service, Olivia, MN.
Brenda Kay (Jaeger) Erickson was born in Montevideo, MN, on February 28, 1957 to Henry and Helen (Bjokne) Jaeger. When she was in the second grade the family moved to Bird Island, MN. She graduated in 1975 from Bird Island-Lake Lillian High School where she had excelled in choir and band, especially playing the flute. After graduation she was a secretary at the high school for four years. Brenda married Douglas Glenn Erickson on April 2, 1977 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Bird Island. They made their home in Bird Island and were blessed with three children. While being a homemaker, Brenda had also done daycare for many years. Later she worked for Neubauer Chiropractic, Kraft Walser Law Office, Keith Scott Agency, and Younger & Walton Law Office, retiring in 2019.
Brenda enjoyed camping, traveling, doing crafts, golfing, and gardening….and had a serious love of chocolate and sweet treats! Her lifelong passion for music was evident as she continued singing, playing piano, flute, and handbells. She was a faithful and active member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church serving in various roles over the years, including directing the hand bell choir. Brenda’s family will forever cherish the memories of her love and dedication to them; always willing to help others especially her children, grandchildren, and many friends.
Brenda is survived by her husband Doug Erickson of Bird Island; her three children: Rachelle (and Paul) Morken of Minneapolis, Brad Erickson of Bird Island, and Jacob Erickson (and Malorie Deason) of St. Paul; her four grandchildren: Sophia, Aleah, Blake and Julian; her two siblings: David (and Pat) Jaeger of Cambridge, and Daryl (and Andrea) Jaeger of Lakewood, CA; her sisters-in-law Sue Elliott of Bird Island, Cheryl Engstrom of Olivia, and Cindy Grosklags of Danube; her brothers-in-law Greg (and Karen) Erickson of Olivia and Bob (and Sue) Erickson of Olivia; and many nieces and nephews. Brenda was preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws Robert and Arlene Erickson; and her brothers-in-law Bradley Erickson, Steven Erickson, Dan Elliot, Allen Engstrom and Alan Grosklags.
