Betty Ann Marie (Albers) Jaeger was born September 10, 1931, in Tracy, to John and Margaret (Subbert) Albers. She was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Vesta. Betty grew up on the family farm near Lucan and attended country school. The family lived in Wabasso for a short time, where she was confirmed at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. Later they moved to a farm near Lamberton, and she graduated from Lamberton High School. On August 17, 1949, Betty was united in marriage to Orlin Jaeger at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. The couple farmed near Lucan, where they raised their five children.
Betty loved time spent with family, whether it be playing cards, traveling, or spending time on the farm. Betty took many trips in her lifetime, including to Texas, Seattle, Yellowstone, and the Black Hills, but her favorite place to go was Branson. Betty also brought her children on a family history trip to Iowa, where her family was from. She enjoyed taking care of her flower beds. Betty was very involved in St. Matthew Lutheran Church in the ladies circle, teaching Sunday School, and sewing baby blankets. As the youngest in her family, she learned to cook from Orlin’s mother, and when she got too good, Betty participated in Tops weight loss program for many years.
