Ann Marie Charlotte Johnson was born on January 20, 1934 in Mona, IA to George and Ethel (Thorson) Bonnallie. She grew up on a farm in Adams, MN. Ann graduated from Lyle High School and continued her education at Northern Iowa receiving a teaching degree. She taught first grade at Ruthven and Osage, IA and also in St. Louis Park, MN. Ann married Charles Johnson on June 25, 1966 and their marriage was blessed with two children, Scott and Amy. They resided in Edina until 1978 when they moved to Bird Island where they owned and operated Johnson Drug. She also worked as a substitute teacher and a tutor for a deaf child. After the drug store closed, she opened Ann’s Gift Shop. She was an active member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, the Lioness Club, bridge groups, and the red hatters club. She loved playing cards and games. Being very competitive, her family often called her a cheater. She enjoyed writing short stories and was pleased to publish her first children’s book. Ann cherished her grandchildren and took pride in teaching and sharing her knowledge with them.
Ann is survived by her children: Scott (and Kelly) Johnson of Bird Island and Amy Weis (and significant other Matt Haugen) of Delano; her grandchildren: Jaden (and fiancé Shania) and Jordan Johnson, Austin (and fiancé Grace), Sierra, and Riley Weis; and her sister, Shirley Jackson of Enderlin, ND.
