Anitra Gene Loe

Anitra Gene Loe of Willmar, MN died on August 22, 2023. She was 97 years old. Funeral services will be at Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer, MN on Friday, September 1, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Pastor Tim Routh. Visitation will be at the Sacred Heart Community Center on Thursday, August 31, 2023, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Burial will be in Our Savior’s Cemetery in Sacred Heart. Arrangements are with Dirks-Blem Funeral Service, Renville, MN.
Anitra was born November 2, 1925, in Montevideo, MN to Henry and Elida (Johnson) Kanten. She was baptized and confirmed in Big Bend Lutheran Church in Milan, MN. She grew up on a farm near Milan and graduated from the local high school. Anitra attended Luther College in Decorah, IA and St. Cloud State University where she received her teaching degree. She taught elementary school in Clarkfield, Montevideo, Maynard, Renville, and Sacred Heart. Anitra married Duane Loe on July 15, 1950, and they were married for 69 years. They lived in Sacred Heart where Anitra taught school and Duane was the bank President. Anitra was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, taught Sunday School, and served on the Church Council and with WELCA. She was also active in many school and community events. In 1994 Anitra fulfilled her life-long dream of living on Green Lake. Anitra enjoyed “lake life” and hosted many family and friends’ gatherings. She became active in the community and as a member of Faith Lutheran Church. Anitra enjoyed playing yard games, water activities, driving the jet ski, reading, quilting, hardanger, bridge, board games, going to Arizona in the winter and watching her children and grandchildren in their activities.
Anitra is survived by her children: Margaret Loe of Willmar, David (and Jane) Loe of St. Louis, and Dan (and Cindy) Loe of Sacred Heart; five grandchildren: Carrie Loe, Andy (and Erin) Loe, Tom Loe, Kate (and Adam) Jones, and Adam (and Lauren) Loe, and one step-grandchild Mitchell McAdams. She has seven great grandchildren: Elizabeth, Victoria, Avery, Riley, Addison, Simon, and Sam. She is also survived by her sister Connie (and Larry) Dahlstrom, her sister-in-law Kathy (Loe) Zucker, and many nieces and nephews. Anitra was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Duane, two sisters and their husbands: Wanda and Don Michie and Ruthie and Don Liebsch; her brother-in-law Paul Zucker, and two infant brothers.
