Loyis Eekhoff

Loyis Eekhoff, age 91, of Renville, died Monday, January 11, 2021, at the RenVilla Nursing Home in Renville.  A private Celebration of Life will be held for Loyis and his wife Bee (who died May 4, 2020) on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at First Lutheran Church in Renville.  The Rev. Jane Crawford will officiate.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Renville.  Arrangements are with Dirks-Blem Funeral Service, Renville, MN.

Loyis Eekhoff was born on May 29, 1929, on a farm near Gluek, Minnesota to Theodore and Grace (Becker) Eekhoff.  Loyis was baptized at Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City, Minnesota.  Loyis grew up in the Gluek area and was united in marriage to Beulah Knudson on July 30, 1950, at Saron Lutheran Church in Montevideo, Minnesota.  After their marriage, they made their home in Renville and Loyis worked as a mechanic/salesman at H & L Motors in Renville.  On April 1, 1977, he and his two sons purchased the dealership and they worked together until his retirement in 1994.  Loyis loved carpentry, and along with building his two homes, he built cabinetry, furniture, and too many things to list. He was passionate about hunting and fishing and was most comfortable in his hunting gear-sitting in a deer stand or in the weeds enjoying the sport and also God’s creation.  Loyis was active in the Gideons for many years and a very active member of First Lutheran Church in Renville, where he taught Sunday school and was on the board.

Loyis is survived by his sons and daughter: Larry (and Mary Mark) of Renville, Gary (and Victoria) of Renville, and Michelle (and Kevin) Mulder of Hutchinson; his nine grandchildren: Elias (and Diana Wu) Eekhoff, Daniel (and Megan Klose) Eekhoff, Liza (and Brent) Fagen, Laura (and Andrew) Rosen, Katie (and Joseph) Manson, Kayla (and Robert) Jansen, Ryan (and Karissa) Mulder, Lisa (and Christopher) Damhof, and Jennifer (and Jared) Fairbanks; 16 great grandchildren, his sister, Marge Dean of Willmar; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Beulah, and his brothers and sisters: Henry, Fred, Willie, Peter, Elroy, Doyle, Marie Schellenbarger, and Helen Gehrke.
