A Worthington woman was sentenced in Redwood County District Court for felony drug charges after being found with numerous illegal drugs and a firearm in an area hotel.

According to court documents, on July 19, 2019, Lower Sioux Community police officers were called to Jackpot Junction Casino on a call an individual with a U.S. Marshall warrant was on-site. Officers arrived to find the individual leaving and headed into the parking lot with a woman. She told officers she had taken two rooms to make a day of staying at the hotel and using the pool with her two children and several friends, one of them being Chelsey Marie Conn, age 36.

The woman stated that after she saw one of her friends use drugs in front of her in their hotel room, and near where her children were sleeping, she wanted the rooms cleared.

Hotel security and law enforcement entered the hotel rooms and found Conn and a friend in bed, with extensive drug paraphernalia scattered throughout the room. A search of the room turned up a loaded handgun under the mattress, 260 grams of methamphetimine, and 4.2 grams of heroin. A review of Conn’s criminal history showed she had a 2016 felony conviction that prohibited her from possessing a firearm.

On Jan. 3, 2022, Chelsey Marie Conn was sentenced for 5th degree drug possession to the correctional facility in Shakopee to 17 months, with 202 days credit for time served.
