Women in Ag Network hosts Summer Tour in the Nicollet and New Ulm areas

Nicollet, Minn. (6/7/2024) — Farmers and ranchers across Minnesota strive every day to raise quality agricultural products for consumers. One goal in the mix of business decisions farmers and ranchers need to make, is to think about where the farm products will go. Creating a marketing plan, setting goals, and ultimately readying your farm to take advantage of opportunities that come up is important. The University of Minnesota Extension Women in Ag Network will focus on this topic during the upcoming Summer Tour planned for mid-July.

The Women in Ag Network Summer Tour will be Tuesday, July 16, 2024, from 2 to 8 p.m. Travel between sites is on your own and carpooling is encouraged.

“Participants on this tour will meet farmers and speakers who have placed a priority on marketing goals and lead their farm through this ongoing process,” said Samantha Schoenbauer, Extension Educator, agricultural production systems, Nicollet and Sibley Counties.

“Whether your farm is raising a commodity crop such as grain, or livestock such as beef, lamb, or swine, or growing a niche product; thinking about one’s marketing farm goals and knowing your break-even is important,” said Susanne Hinrichs, Extension Educator, agricultural business management.
