A New London woman was checked out at the hospital after driving through some back yards and crashing into a garage in Willmar Wednesday morning.

Willmar Police say at 8:24 a.m. they received a call a motor vehicle had crashed through a couple of fences and into a garage in the 1100 block of SW 3rd St. Upon arrival, officers learned that Kathy Peterson, age 65, of New London, had exited Walt’s car wash just prior to the crash. She then proceeded to travel north bound across Roise Ave. and accelerated through several back yards in the 1100 block of SW 3rd St. She went through two fences, struck a shed and came to rest when she ran into a garage with an unoccupied vehicle parked inside.

Peterson was transported to the emergency room by ambulance as a precaution. No other injuries were reported. The Willmar Police Department was assisted by Centra Care EMS, Kandiyohi County Rescue Squad and the Willmar Fire Department.
