A Willmar man, Charles Steven Richards, age 50, was sentenced in Redwood County court after threatening to kill patrons of a bar.

According to court records, on June 5 of last year, the Redwood Falls Police Department was called to an area bar on a report a man was violently threatening people. Officers were told that Richards had been going about consuming other peoples’ drinks. Multiple bar patrons stated that when Richards was told to leave, he stated he was going to come back and “shoot up the place”.

Officers also learned that Richards was subject to conditions of release on a separate court file, and was prohibited from consuming alcohol or going into bars and liquor stores.

A bit later, a bar patron called police to report that Richards had come back. Officers found him standing in the parking lot, and arrested him.

On July 31, Richards was sentenced for felony threats of violence and misdemeanor disorderly conduct to a total of 81 days local confinement, three years supervised probation, and fines and fees of $385.
