Willmar man found dead on Kandiyohi County hunting expedition

A Willmar man died while bow-hunting in Kandiyohi County Saturday afternoon.
On Saturday, Sept. 26, at about 3:30 p.m., the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office was called to the area of County Road 27 and County Road 5 in Dovre Township for a report of a missing hunter. When they arrived, deputies learned that Alan Marcus, age 56, from Willmar had arrived in this area to bow hunt earlier in the day and had not been heard from by family.
A ground search by the Sheriff’s Office and the Kandiyohi County Rescue Squad resulted in Marcus’s body being found on the hunting property. The exact cause of death will be determined by Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office, but no foul play is suspected.
The investigation is ongoing by the Sheriff’s Office. Assisting were the Kandiyohi County Rescue Squad, Willmar Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and the Midwest Medical Examiner’s office.
