Vesta man injured in Highway 19 collision Tuesday

A Vesta man was injured in a Lyon County collision Tuesday morning.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, at about 7:41 on March 16, a 2019 GMC Acadia driven by Darren Michael Fransen, age 36, of Tracy, was northbound on an icy County Road 11. At the intersection of Highway 19, Fransen collided with a westbound 2013 Dodge Durango being driven by Jonathan Carl Rubendall, age 47, of Vesta.

Rubendall was transported to Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Three passengers in Rubendall’s vehicle — Alyssa Jo Rubendall, age 11, Anna Grace Rubendall, age 14, and Austin Michael Rubendall, age 14, all of Vesta — were uninjured.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
