Two Willmar residents were arrested Tuesday for contributing to the death of a recent overdose victim near New London.

On April 16, law enforcement responded to a possible overdose by a 19 year old woman at a home she was visiting near New London. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy showed that she had died from the effects of fentanyl, which can cause loss of consciousness, low blood pressure, coma, severe respiratory depression and death.

On Tuesday, May 17th, the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office, the CEE-VI Drug and Gang Task Force, and the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension acted on two search warrants in Willmar related to the case. Two Willmar residents, a 20 year old man, and a 20 year old female, were arrested on charges including 1st Degree Manslaughter and 3rd Degree Murder related to the overdose death.

Narcotics were located at both search warrant locations. In the residence occupied by the 20 year old male, investigators recovered over 1,600 counterfeit oxycodone/percocet pills known to contain fentanyl and over $4,000 cash. He is also charged with 1st Degree Narcotics Sales and 1st Degree Narcotics Possession. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
