Two More Republicans File For 1st Congressional District Race

Two more Republicans have filed to run to represent Minnesota’s First Congressional District. Bob Carney Jr and Ken Navitski filed last week. Brad Finstad and State Representative Jeremy Munson, from Lake Crystal, are the third and fourth Republicans to announce their candidacies.

The only Democrat to file so far is Richard Painter, a former Republican, and ethics lawyer for then-President George W. Bush.

The special election to fill a seat left vacant when Congressman Jim Hagedorn died last month, is scheduled for August 9. A primary is set for May 24.
