Two people were killed in a Renville County collision Saturday morning.

On Oct. 21, at 9:51 a.m., the Renville County  Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a two-vehicle crash at the  intersection of Renville County Road 4 and Renville County Road 5, about six miles south of Bird Island.

Emergency crews found a 1999 MACK 600 Tractor Truck, driven by Dean  Schroeder, age 62 of Renville, and a 2011 Nissan Altima, driven by Emily  Didier, age 22 of Lanesboro. Both vehicles were located off the roadway  with significant damage. There were no passengers in either vehicle, with the exception of a dog in Ms. Didier’s vehicle.

The preliminary crash investigation revealed that the Nissan Altima was  traveling east on Co Rd 4 when it collided into the MACK Tractor Truck, which  had been traveling southbound on Co Rd 5.

Driver’s of both vehicles were pronounced deceased at the scene. The dog  survived with unknown or no apparent significant injuries and was released to  family members.

Assisting on scene were: The Minnesota State Patrol, Bird Island Fire Department, Bird Island Medical Response Unit, Olivia Ambulance, Olivia Fire  Department, Olivia Tactical Response Team, Kandiyohi Tactical Response Team  and the Renville County Highway Department.

The Renville County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash along with the  Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office.
