Two men were arrested Sunday over a hit-and-run and alleged assault in Granite Falls Sunday morning.

At 12:54 am on Sunday April 18th, the Granite Falls Police Department was dispatched to a residence the 1100 block of Granite Street, to investigate a fight.

Officers spoke with the victim, Pablo Cruz Horton, age 28, of Granite Falls, about the assault. Horton told officers he was the passenger in a vehicle that just struck and injured a man just west of his residence.  Officers quickly located the crash scene and found evidence of serious injury, but no victim was found and the suspect vehicle had fled the scene as well.

Officers soon located the vehicle, a 2009 white Chevy Tahoe, and the alleged driver of the hit and run accident, Alan De Los Santos, age 27, at his residence in Granite Falls.  Officers arrested De Los Santos for suspicion of Criminal Vehicular Operation, and passenger Horton, who were both detained at the Law Enforcement Center for questioning.

Area law enforcement officers, the Granite Falls Ambulance, and the Granite Falls Fire Department, conducted a large ground search of the surrounding area for the injured victim, but could not fine him.  At approximately 9:46 am, a tip led officers to a residence on the 1200 block of 6th Street, where the victim, Erwin Oran Rendon age 55, of Granite Falls, was located. Rendon appeared to have significant injuries to both his head and face, as well as injuries to his lower extremities.  Rendon was immediately transported to the Avera Granite Falls Hospital, where he was treated and later flown by helicopter to a metro area hospital.  The medical condition of Rendon was not available at the time of this notification on Monday afternoon.
