A Twin Cities couple passing through Redwood Falls Monday evening has been charged with multiple drug and weapons offenses.

On July 5, just before midnight, a Redwood Falls Police officer observed a vehicle driving 35 mph in a 30 mph zone on East Bridge Street, swerving in its lane. The officer stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver, Christopher James Brusad, age 24, of Minneapolis.

The passenger, Tayla Paige Therres, age 23, of Anoka, consented to a search of her fanny pack, in which the officer found a hypodermic needle and switch blade knife. During a search of the vehicle, the officers found two clear glass smoking pipes, both containing a substance that tested positive as methamphetamine, and a set of brass knuckles.

Brusad, who has a previous fifth degree drug conviction in Washington County and Dakota County, is currently in the Redwood County jail on multiple drug and dangerous weapons charges.
