The Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office issued several updates about the train derailment near Raymond.

On Friday afternoon, Kandiyohi County Sheriff Eric Tollefson told KLGR that although area emergency workers appreciate all the donations they’ve been receiving from the community, they’re not really necessary at this point. All aid workers and law enforcement officers are being reimbursed, and donations of food and other items are nearly overflowing.

In addition, as of Saturday afternoon:

Supervision of the crash site has transitioned to the state, and the NTSB investigation is ongoing. Derailed and damaged tank cars of the remaining ethanol and corn syrup are being loaded into tanks, but restoration of the site will continue for several days.

The tracks have returned to service, and the first train passed through the area early on Saturday morning.

BNSF air monitoring at the site has not found any particulate matter or volatile organic compound levels of concern.
