Three New London residents, two of them children, were injured in a collision involving a school bus in Kandiyohi County Wednesday morning.
On Nov. 3, at about 7:30 a.m., the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a three-vehicle crash on the 3300 block of Co Rd 40 NE, just east of US Hwy 71.
Deputies determined a 2012 Ford pickup driven by Dakota Miles Tanner, age 27, of New London was stopped for a school bus stop. Behind him was a 2010 Honda SUV driven by Jason Dean Bengtson, age 33, from New London. An eastward-bound 2020 Dodge Ram pickup, driven by Jeremy David Peterson, age 32, of New London, failed to stop and rear ended Bengtson’s SUV, causing it to strike the rear of Tanner’s Ford pickup.
Bengtson and his two passengers, a four-year old and one-year old, were transported to Carris Health-Rice Hospital in Willmar for non-life threatening injuries. Tanner and Peterson were not injured in the crash. The school bus was not involved in the crash.
Assisting the Sheriff’s Office were New London Ambulance, New London Fire Department, CentraCare Ambulance, Lakes Area Rural Responders, Kandiyohi County Rescue Squad and the Minnesota State Patrol.
This crash remains under investigation.
