Three injured in two separate Yellow Medicine County collisions Sunday evening

Three people were injured in separate collisions on icy roads in Yellow Medicine County Sunday evening.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the first collision occurred at 6:14 p.m., when a Honda CR-V was being driven eastbound on Highway 68 by Michael Robert Beranek, age 38, of Marshall. Near mile post 68 in Florida Township, Ross Phillip Kennelly, age 24, of Superior, WI, was eastbound when the two vehicles collided.

Beranek was transported to the Canby hospital with non-life threatening injuries, along with his passenger Amanda Faye Beranek, age 38, of Marshall.

The Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Department, Canby Police Department, and Canby Fire Department assisted at the scene.

The second collision occurred not quite an hour later, on Highway 212. At about 7:10 p.m., Talon James Cavender-Wilson was driving a 2011 Subaru Outback westward. Near the intersection with 320th Ave., the vehicle left the roadway and rolled. Cavender-Wilson was not injured, but passenger Julie Kaleolani Nakamura Ishihara, age 22, of Kaneohe, HI, was transported to the Granite Falls hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office and Granite Falls Police Department assisted at the scene.
