(On Wednesday, KLGR published an article titled, “Three Injured in Two Separate Crashes Along Highway 212 Wednesday Morning”.

The article was based on information received from the Minnesota State Patrol on Wednesday afternoon, and raised some eyebrows — by KLGR staff, among others — because the information appeared to state the second crash occurred “…at the ice-covered intersection of Highways 212 and 71….” east of Redwood Falls. Those highways don’t meet until Olivia, so we requested clarification.

On Thursday, the Minnesota State Patrol issued a new statement, eliminating all references to Highway 212. Here is a corrected version of the relevant part of the previous article….):

At about 6:06 a.m., a 2016 Ford F150 driven by Bruce Alan Nemitz, age 51, of Clearwater, was southbound on Highway 71.  On the icy road, Nemitz’s F150 collided head-on with an northbound 2014 Jeep Compass driven by Albert Onwonga Nyamache, age 37, of Burnsville.

Nemitz and Nyamache were both transported to Carris Health – Redwood for non-life threatening injuries. The Redwood Falls Police and Fire Departments, and CentraCare Ambulance, assisted at the scene.
