The Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office reports two crashes on Monday.
At 9:15 a.m., deputies heard a report of a truck that had gone off the road and overturned on County Road 33, and found a 2017 Freightliner box truck driven by a 36-year old Minneapolis man. The driver was transported to Carris Health / Rice Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the New London Fire Department and the New London ambulance.
About seven hours later, at 4:37 p.m. the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a two vehicle crash with injuries at the intersection of County Road 5 and County Road 15 near the Hwy 23 overpass. Deputies found that a 2010 Toyota Sion being driven by Matthew Pederson, age 19, from Prinsburg, was on County Road 15 turning northbound onto Co Rd 5. The other vehicle was a 2018 ford F-150 being driven by Mark Hirman, a 60 year old male from Raymond, , southbound on Co Rd 5. Pederson pulled out to turn north and was struck by the Hirman’s vehicle. Both drivers were transported to Carris Health Hospital in Willmar with non-life threatening injuries. A teenage female passenger from the Toyota Sion was not injured.
The Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Centracare Ambulance and Willmar Fire Department.
Both crashes are currently under investigation by the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office.
