A 14 year old girl was injured in Walnut Grove Thursday when the vehicle she was driving lost control.

According to the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office, at about 6:38 p.m on May 4, the unidentified teen was driving a Chevrolet hatchback on County Road 5 in Walnut Grove. Witnesses say when she turned eastbound onto Main Street, the driver lost control and collided with a double-axle trailer, which then struck a nearby brick building.

Airbags deployed, and the driver was seen running away from the vehicle. She was located and transported to the hospital in Westbrook with non-life threatening injuries.

The crash is currently under investigation by the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office. Assisting on the scene were the Walnut Grove Ambulance and Fire Department, Lamberton Ambulance, and Minnesota State Patrol.
