SWAT Team Standoff In Clarkfield
On 9/14/24 at about 3:15pm, the YMC Sheriff’s Office received a call for a welfare check on an individual in the City of Clarkfield. While responding, deputies were notified that the individual had left the city and now was in a farm field in rural Clarkfield with a rifle.
While deputies were evacuating people from the residence next to the farm field to ensure their safety, the individual pointed the rifle at them. The individual then fled into the rural residence. A perimeter was set up around the house and deputies tried to make contact with the individual.
Deputies were unable to persuade the individual out of the house and a SWAT response was requested. Members of the Kandiyohi-Meeker-Willmar SWAT team arrived and attempted to talk the individual out of the house. The individual fired a long gun at members of this team during the standoff and a member returned fire striking the individual in the leg.
