Unconditional bail for the Willmar father and son accused of attacking a Willmar police officer last week has been set at $50,000 each.

According to KWLM, Ramero Arguijo, age 48, is charged with 5 counts including 4th Degree Assault on a Police Officer, Obstructing the Legal Process, 5th Degree Drug Possession, Fleeing Police and Driving After Revocation. Arguijo was arraigned on Friday, and had a pre-trial hearing on Monday in Kandiyohi County District Court, and his next court appearance takes place March 21st.

Ramero’s son, Leandro Arguijo, age 20, is charged with 4th Degree Assault on a Police Officer and Obstructing the Legal Process. Leandro’s next court appearance is set for March 8th.

On Wednesday, Feb. 22, a Wilmar police officer tried to arrest Ramero Aguijo on an outstanding warrant, but Ramero fled on foot, then fought with the officer. Leandro is accused of trying to help his father escape by also assaulting the police officer, who called for help. The officer, who suffered minor injuries, was assisted by a group of anonymous bystanders after a lengthy fight.
