High winds blew two semi-trucks off the road within minutes of each other in Lyon and Chippawa Counties Thursday evening.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, at about 7:38 p.m. on May 12, James Earl West, age 64, of Durland, Wis., was driving a Freightliner semi northbound on Highway 59. About a mile and a half north of Watson, the storm blew the truck off the road, and rolled it into the ditch. West was transported to the Montevideo hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Five minutes later, in Lyon County, a Peterbuilt semi-truck driven by Daniel Ray Clinton, age 59, was westbound on Highway 68 when it was blown off the road into the north ditch and rolled. Clinton was transported to the hospital in Marshall with non-life threatening injuries.
