Winter storm warning in effect for KLGR area from Tues. evening through Wed. afternoon (updated)

A winter storm warning remains in effect from early evening until noon tomorrow. The KLGR area could see snow accumulations of five to 10 inches, with winds gusting as high as 45 miles per hour. With temperatures near the freezing point, there may even be a few thunderstorms possible this evening across southern Minnesota.

Travel plans could be affected through Wednesday evening, so play it safe. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility, while winds could be gusty enough to bring down tree branches, or affect vehicles’ stability on the roads out in the countryside.

Forecasters say a snowstorm could make Thanksgiving travel a mess in southern Minnesota, western Wisconsin and other parts of the Upper Midwest.

National Weather Service meteorologist Brent Hewett says Wednesday morning “is not looking great for travel.” Minneapolis-St. Paul could see its biggest November snowfall since 2010.

Meteorologists say another winter storm could develop after Thanksgiving into the weekend. But they say it’s too soon to tell whether that system will bring rain, snow or a mix.
