A Sleepy Eye woman died in a collision and rollover early Sunday morning.

According to the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, at about 2:45 a.m. on July 9, Sergio Rangel, age 22, of Sleepy Eye, was driving a Nissan Rogue westbound on County Road 22. Near the intersection with 220th Avenue, the vehicle entered the south ditch, struck a REA utility pole, and rolled multiple times.

The driver sustained non-life threatening injuries, and was treated and released from the hospital. A passenger, Adrianna Marie Aguilar, age 20, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other passengers, ages two and seven months, escaped injury.

The accident remains under investigation by the Brown County Sheriff’s Office and Minnesota State Patrol. Assisting on the scene were the New Ulm Fire Department, Sleepy Eye Ambulance, and Alina Ambulance.
