Sleepy Eye man charged with murder, aiding suicide for Thursday incident near Fairfax

A Sleepy Eye man, Casey Narvaez, age 39 is being charged with 2nd degree murder and aiding suicide for a Thursday morning incident near Fairfax.

According to the Nicollet County Sheriff’s Office, on Oct. 26, at about 12:54 a.m., Nicollet County Dispatch received a 91 call from Narvaez, making statements that were difficult to understand. Dispatchers were eventually able to determine Narvaez’s location was at the boat landing in Ridgely Township, on Highway 4.

Officers arrived on the scene to discover Narvaez in distress, with cable ties around his neck. A deceased female was found in a nearby vehicle.

After further investigation, Narvaez was charged with 2nd degree murder and aiding suicide.

Assisting agencies include the police departments of Fairfax, Hector, and Sleepy Eye, the Renville County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol, Fairfax Ambulance, and Minnesota BCA.
