The West Central Tribune says all charges have been dismissed against a Granite Falls doctor accused of sexual abuse.

The trial for 58-year-old Dr. Mark Eakes began in Granite Falls Wednesday. After the first witness testified on Thursday, the Yellow Medicine County Attorney’s Office asked all charges be dismissed. The main reason centered around meetings the prosecutors had with the alleged victims prior to the trial.

Eakes was accused of abusing four patients over the course of 5 years by doing unnecessary pelvic exams. Eakes’ attorney Ryan Garry told the newspaper his client is innocent, the charges were bogus, and Eakes looks forward to resuming his life as a rural doctor.

The doctor’s license is still active, but he agreed not to practice while the legal proceedings were going on.
