A Sanborn woman died in a Kandiyohi County collision Wednesday morning that injured residents of other area communities.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, on Aug 25, Frederick Henry Berg, age 84, of Sanborn, was driving a 2020 Honda Odyssey northward on 135th Street Northwest. At about 11:23 a.m., his vehicle collided in the intersection with a westbound Kia Spectra being driven on Highway 12 by Rae Ann Lynn Baker, age 22, of Redwood Falls.

Berg’s passenger, Delores Matilda Berg, age 83, died on the scene. Berg himself was treated for non-life threatening injuries at Rice Memorial Hospital, along with his passengers Irene Lucille Mathiowetz, age 83, of Sleepy Eye, and Robert Wendelin Mathiowetz, age 88, of Sleepy Eye.

Rae Ann Lynn Baker was also taken to Rice Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, along with her passengers Kyri Elaysia Cox, age 17, of Redwood Falls, and Thomas Bryan Zemple, age 20, of Mankato.

Assisting on the scene were the Minnesota Department of Transportation, Kandiyohi and Swift County Sheriff’s Offices, Pannock Fire and Police Departments, Kerkhoven Fire Department, CentraCare and Raymond Ambulances.
