Sacred Heart teenager struck by car and injured Wednesday
A Sacred Heart teenager was injured after being struck by a car at an intersection on Wednesday morning.
On April 24, at 7:37 a.m., the Renville County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Walnut Street and 5th Avenue in Sacred Heart.
Emergency responders found an injured 15-year-old Sacred Heart female who had been struck by a vehicle. The vehicle reportedly stopped, then left the scene. The juvenile female victim was transported by ambulance to the Granite Falls Hospital, where she was treated for her injuries and was released.
Renville County deputies, with the assistance of the Granite Falls Police Department, later located the vehicle and its driver in Granite Falls. The driver was identified as a 16-year-old male from Sacred Heart. The driver is cooperating with law enforcement.
The Renville County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Once the investigation is complete, the case will be sent to the Renville County Attorney’s Office for review.
