Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office

Road signs are being stolen in large numbers in both Kandiyohi and Meeker Counties.

Chief Deputy Julie Wyffels stated in a release, “Over the past few weeks, the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office has taken numerous reports from Public Works about street signs being stolen out in the County. Stop signs, yield signs, bridge ahead signs and other various signs have been reported stolen mainly in the northeastern portion of the county. Meeker County is also seeing similar issues in their county.

“This is creating a public safety issue at intersections in our areas to the motoring public when traffic control devices (aka signs) go missing and motorists may not know they have a curve ahead, should stop for the intersection or have to yield to traffic at an intersection.”

If you see any suspicious people or vehicles in the area where signs have gone missing, or if you see suspicious people lingering around intersections or tampering with signs, please call the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office at 320-235-1260.
