Two SW MN men were injured when their vehicles collided on Highway 71 on Saturday evening.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, on Jan. 23, a Ford Ranger driven by Jesus Jr. Ramirez, age 32, of Renville, was southbound on Highway 71 near 45th Ave. SE in Willmar. Ramirez’s vehicle spun out on icy roads and ended up facing south in the northbound lane of traffic, where it became stalled due to lack of traction.

At about 9:21 p.m., a northbound Chevrolet GMT driven by Travis Doug Zuidema, age 41, of Franklin, collided head-on with Ramirez’s vehicle.

Ramirez and Zuidema were both transported to the hospital in Willmar with non-life threatening injuries.

Assisting at the scene were Centracare Willmar Ambulance, Raymond Ambulance, Willmar Fire Department, Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office, and Kandiyohi Rescue.
