Montevideo murder suspect re-arrested after missing court appearance

A Renville County murder suspect is back in jail after failing to appear for a scheduled court hearing last fall. Officials believe Deja Padilla, age 20, of Montevideo sold a Renville County woman drugs that contained a fatal dose of fentanyl November 13th of 2021.

According to KWLM, an arrest warrant was issued in September for Padilla when she failed to appear for a settlement conference. The arrest warrant was served on her April 4th.

She had been free on $300,000 conditional bail, but that bail has been reset at $750,000. Padilla’s next court appearance is set for June 12. She is charged with 3rd Degree Murder and 3rd Degree Controlled Substance Drug Sales.
