A Redwood Falls woman was sentenced in Redwood County Court last week for third degree witness tampering after using Facebook Messenger to intimidate a potential witness.

On Sept. 20 of 2019, a Redwood Falls Police Officer met with a local Walmart employee who was assigned to the asset protection team. The employee went to the Redwood County Law Enforcement Center with evidence related to a theft that had occurred about two hours earlier. One of the individuals identified with the theft was Breanna Marie Gines, age 26, who was issued a citation for violation of an instruction permit.

The Walmart employee also stated his girlfriend received multiple messages from Gines through Facebook Messenger threatening the Walmart employee for having called the police.

Gines was sentenced to 90 days local confinement, stayed 45 days for one year, one year supervised probation, and a total of $435 in fees and fines.
