A Redwood Falls woman, Tara Eileen Scott, age 45, has been sentenced in Redwood County court for felony-level domestic assault for a Jan. 2022 incident.
According to court documents, on Jan. 27 of last year, Redwood County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a domestic assault in Wabasso. The victim claimed that while working, he had been sent numerous confrontational texts by Scott. The victim claimed that after the business closed for the night, Scott went to the till and attempted to take cash from the till. When the victim tried to stop her, Scott allegedly physically attacked him. The victim acknowledged he pressed his forearm to Scott’s throat to keep her from attacking him.
Scott told deputies the victim was the one who had physically attacked her, and the deputy noticed a couple red marks on her neck. Both victim and Scott were placed under arrest and transported to the Redwood County jail, where Scott refused to leave the squad car and had to be physically removed. She had three previous domestic assault convictions.
In a separate case, Scott was also convicted of felony burglary – 2nd degree – dwelling, for a July 2023 incident.
On Nov. 6, 2023, Scott was sentenced to a total of 90 days local confinement, four years supervised probation, and fines and fees of $1,220.
