A former Redwood Falls resident, Billy Joe Fischer, age 43, was sentenced in Redwood County Court of the felony of possessing drugs while in the Redwood County jail.

According to court documents, on July 7, 2022, a Redwood County deputy became aware that Fischer, who had been booked on a separate crime, was in possession of a leafy substance and a small baggie containing a powder substance. Testing revealed the leafy substance was marijuana, and the powder was .3 grams of heroin.

On April 21, Fischer was convicted of felony controlled substance crime in the fifth degree to 18 months in the correctional facility in St. Cloud.
