Redwood Falls man sentenced for possessing child porn

A Redwood Falls man, Edward Carl Gatfield, was sentenced in Redwood County District Court on Jan. 24 for four counts of possessing child pornography.

According to court documents, in May of 2019, the Redwood Falls Police Department was contacted by a Minneapolis Police Department Task Force regarding pornographic images involving minors being sent and received in the City of Redwood Falls. A local police officer was able to confirm that Edward Gatfield lived at the listed address.

Several weeks later the Minneapolis task force contacted the Redwood Falls Police Department with an update stating more pornographic files had been downloaded to the Redwood Falls address from a host computer in Hutchinson.

On May 23, 2019, local police officers and a Minneapolis task force member executed a search warrant at Gatfield’s residence, finding the offending images on a laptop computer.

On Jan. 24, Edward Carl Gatfield was sentenced for four counts of felony possession of pornographic works, with a stay of imposition, to a total of 30 months in the correctional facility in St. Cloud, stayed for five years, 120 days local confinement, five years supervised probation,  and $485 fees and fines.
