Redwood Falls man found guilty of violent threats and domestic assault

A Redwood County District Court jury on Thursday found Wayne Elmer Scharmer, 57, of Redwood  Falls guilty of one count of felony Threats of Violence and one count of gross misdemeanor Domestic Assault, 

According to the criminal complaint, testimony and evidence presented at trial, on  September 2, 2021, the Redwood Falls Police Department was called to a residence in Redwood Falls. Responding officers made contact with the victim, who stated she and Scharmer, her live-in boyfriend, were having an argument when Scharmer kicked her in the knee and threatened to kill her. The victim stated she was afraid of Scharmer and in fear for her safety.  

Scharmer will be sentenced July 11th at the Redwood County Courthouse.
