Redwood Falls, Lower Sioux Police investigate Washington man passing forged checks in SW MN
The Redwood Falls and Lower Sioux Police Departments are asking the public for help after a Washington man was arrested for passing forged checks in the area.
On Mon., Dec. 28, Redwood Falls Police Department opened an investigation of check forgery after a suspected forged check was passed at Hometown Bank in Redwood Falls. Redwood Falls Police identified the suspect as John Paul Clifford Everitt of Marysville, Washington.
On Friday, Jan. 1, the Lower Sioux Police Department responded to Jackpot Junction Casino after security reported a possible theft. Lower Sioux Police conducted an investigation and arrested the suspect, John Everitt, on charges of theft, drug possession, and possession of stolen or counterfeit checks. At the time of his arrest several checks issued by local businesses and residents were found in Everitt’s possession.
On Monday, Jan. 4, Redwood Falls Police officers obtained a search warrant and seized several checks suspected to be stolen from the mail in the Redwood Falls area. Redwood Falls Police officers are contacting people who issued the recovered checks, but believes not all the checks have been recovered.
