Redwood County Highway Dept. seeks input about CSAH 1 local road improvement project

The Redwood County Highway department has received a $1.25 million Minnesota Department of Transportation Local Road Improvement Grant to reconstruct County State Aid Highway 1 through the City of Clements.

The project is expected to include new aggregate base, bituminous pavement to a 10 ton design standard, pedestrian ramps, curb and gutter, sidewalk, LED street lighting, and upgraded storm sewer. The total project cost is expected to be $1.7 million. Sanitary sewer and watermain may also be considered as part of the project, pending city funding of these utilities.

As part of the design process, the Redwood County Highway department is looking for input from residents and commuters to share the vision of Highway 1 through Clements.

An in person public open house will be hosted by the County Highway Department, and the engineering firm, Bolten and Menk. Those interested in learning more and providing public comment are encouraged to attend the open house on August 2, from 4 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. at the City of Clements Fire Hall.

The project layout will be finalized in September 2021, design plans and specifications finalized in February 2022, project bidding in March 2022, and construction starting in May 2022.
