MnDOT is hosting an open house on Thursday, March 12 in New London for the upcoming Highway 23 J-turn project. The public meeting will be held from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in New London. Staff from MnDOT will be present to talk about the project and answer questions. A presentation will take place at 5:30 p.m.

The community was concerned with crashes at Hwy 23 and Hwy 9. They also expressed their concern for the lack of space for trucks to wait in the median and the amount of congestion at the Hwy 23/Hwy 9 intersection. The need for improvements for walkers and bikers at Hwy 23 & Hwy 9 as well as across from the school were also expressed.

The Highway 23 J-turn project includes the construction of a J-turn at the intersection of Highway 23 and Highway 9 in New London. Safety improvements for people who walk and bike along Highway 9 in New London are also part of the project. The project is scheduled to begin in 2022.
