Person in Florida suffering mental health crisis allegedly made threats against southwest Minnesota church

A person in Florida suffering a mental health crisis apparently made threats against a church in Prinsburg, Minnesota earlier this week.

The Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office states that on June 24, it got a report from law enforcement in Lee County, Florida, stating a person there may pose a threat to the First Christian Reformed Church in Prinsburg. The Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, and Florida law enforcement launched an immediate effort to investigate.

Church leadership was notified, and the sheriff’s office worked with church leaders to come up with a safety plan.

The available information suggested the individual may have been suffering from an acute mental health crisis, and had been taken to a Lee County area hospital. Criminal charges in the state of Florida may be filed regarding evidence found in their jurisdiction.

It is now believed there was no credible threat made towards the First Christian Reformed Church in Prinsburg.
