Open house for Hwy 71 Olivia resurfacing project is June 22

The public is invited to an in-person construction open house on Wednesday, June 22 to learn about the upcoming U.S. Highway 71 resurfacing project in Olivia. The open house will be held at Olivia City Hall, 1009 West Lincoln Avenue, Olivia. There will not be a formal presentation and people are welcome to stop by anytime during the open house hours of 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. MnDOT staff will be available to answer questions about the construction phase of the Hwy 71 project, including the detour and timeline.

Project summary
Hwy 71 will be resurfaced in Olivia from just south of Viking Drive to the U.S. Highway 212 intersection. Existing sidewalk and pedestrian crossings will be upgraded to current Americans with Disabilities Act standards. New sidewalk connections will be created, and a southbound bypass lane will be added at Viking Drive.

Traffic impacts
Through traffic for Hwy 71 will be detoured during construction. The detour uses Renville County Road 17/790th Avenue and Renville County Road 13/310th Street.
