Two Olivia residents received serious injuries when their vehicles collided south of Olivia Friday afternoon.

On March 5, at 4:03 pm the Renville County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a two-vehicle crash four miles south of Olivia, at the intersection of 780th Avenue and 350th Street.

Preliminary investigation suggested a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Susan Meyer, age 63, of Olivia, had been traveling north on 350th Street, while a 2003 Volkswagen GTI driven by Michael Curry, age 21 of Olivia, had been traveling west on 780th Avenue. Their vehicles collided in the intersection, left the roadway, and ended up in a field.

Both drivers were assisted from their vehicles and given medical treatment by emergency personnel at the scene. Susan Meyer was flown from the scene to the St. Cloud Hospital with serious injuries. Michael Curry was transported by ambulance to Health Partners of Olivia and later flown to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale with serious injuries.

Multiple airbags deployed in both vehicles. Meyer was wearing a seatbelt, Curry was not. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash, and the crash remain under investigation.
