An Olivia man was injured when he lost control of his tractor Monday morning.

According to the Renville County Sheriff’s Office, at about 9:52 a.m. on Oct. 11, the Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call requesting an ambulance for a farm-related accident near the intersection of 330th Street and 810th Avenue, about one mile southwest of Olivia.

Deputies found Nickolas Kubesh, age 25, of Olivia, seated inside a tractor off of the roadway and in a field of standing corn.  Further investigation revealed the tractor, a 4-wheel drive John Deere pulling an empty grain cart, had been northbound on 330th Street.  At some point, Kubesh lost control of the tractor and cart, which eventually entered the west ditch and came to rest in the field.  As the tractor left the road, traveled through the ditch and entered the field, the un-belted Kubesh was thrown about the inside the tractor cab, causing significant injuries.

After receiving medical treatment at the scene, Kubesh was flown by Life Link III helicopter to North Memorial Health in Robbinsdale, with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Agencies assisting at the scene included the Renville County Sheriff’s Office, Olivia Ambulance Service, Olivia Fire/Rescue and Life Link III.
