A hog farmer in Olivia has been sentenced to 45 days in jail for recording women in the shower of his barn without their knowledge. 28-year-old Nicolas Steffel Thursday pleaded guilty to six counts of interference with privacy in Renville County District Court.

Steffel’s hog barn is bio-controlled and everyone is required to shower. The criminal complaint says investigators found a video on Steffel’s phone of a naked woman in the shower . Authorities searched his phone and found 23 more videos and 104 still images.

Deputies say six women recorded by Steffel were unaware they were being filmed. After his guilty plea Thursday Steffel was sentenced to 45 days in the Renville County Jail, and was placed on 3 years of supervised probation. If he violates terms of probation, Steffel could be facing 135 additional days in jail.
